Candles, wax melts, reed diffusers, and sola flower diffusers are a beautiful way to enhance ambiance and create a harmonious atmosphere in any space. However, not all scented products are created equal. Many conventional candles and fragranced home products can release unwanted toxins into the air when burned or diffused—often without consumers realizing it.

Wax Matters: Understanding What You’re Burning
The type of wax used in a candle plays a significant role in both performance and air quality. The most common waxes used in the industry include paraffin, beeswax, and soy wax.
Paraffin wax, although widely used for decades, and by many companies is a petroleum-based byproduct. When burned, it may release unwanted airborne compounds into the environment. For those seeking cleaner alternatives, waxes such as 100% soy wax, coconut-apricot wax, beeswax, and responsibly sourced palm feather wax are widely regarded as safer, plant-based options.

The Wick: An Often-Overlooked Component
Wicks are another critical factor rarely discussed. Synthetic wicks made from materials such as nylon or polyester may emit undesirable substances during combustion. Some mass-produced candles also contain metal-core wicks, which we strictly avoid.
We prioritize natural fiber wicks, such as cotton or linen, and carefully selected wooden wicks where appropriate. These options support a cleaner burn while enhancing the overall candle experience.
Fragrance: Quality Over Quantity
Fragrance is what draws us to candles—it evokes memories, emotions, and comfort. However, many commercial candles rely on synthetic fragrance blends that may contain compounds such as phthalates. These are often used because they are inexpensive and allow for large-scale production.
Our approach is different. We focus on essential oils and carefully curated, upcycled and natural fragrance oils, chosen for both aromatic complexity and mindful formulation. While higher in cost, these ingredients allow us to create products that align with our commitment to quality, wellness, and transparency.
